Solving the network problem before high speed internet

Clinic Server was started in 1998 by a group of visionary clinicians who believed that one day the Internet would replace local area networks as a means of deploying software solutions to medical clinics. Having an organization with multiple locations, their problem was how to connect to the central practice management system from a remote location.

While other companies tried to solve the problem using expensive hardware, or with home office level software, Clinic Server focused on building an Internet application which functioned as its own secure private network. The results were users were able to log in from any computer with an Internet connection and exchange highly encrypted information which is hosted by a world class data center.

The first version of Clinic Server was deployed in 1998, making it among the first true internet applications for medical practices in the world. It is now used in North America from coast to coast by hundreds of users.

Creating a better end user experience

Clinic Server was created to solve problems associated with medical clinic management. Early analysis revealed a huge chasm between what medical practices needed, and what old software did. We discovered that the vast majority of existing solutions began as billing automation systems. Things such as scheduling and workflow were either non existent in other products, or appeared to be “tacked on”  as an afterthought. In fact many offices were still using paper appointment books. We decided from the beginning that scheduling would not be an afterthought, but a forethought. The test of our success would be getting rid of appointment books and increasing the numbers of patients seen comfortably in a practice. We succeeded. Clinic Server was built the way your business works– from front to back. It looks different, feels different and is different than other programs.

The parallel project for Clinic Server was to develop a solution which office managers and clinicians alike would be completely comfortable using within a very short time span. Using the latest in enterprise Java technology, we developed a highly interactive, Rich Client user interface. Unlike many other internet applications, Clinic Server looks and feels like a locally running desktop application, complete with multi-level navigation and interactive popups and dialogs.

Clinic Server has been supporting clients with leading edge healthcare management solutions for the past 10 years. All of our early Clients are using Clinic Server to this day, along with others from coast to coast.
